Upcoming Dinner Program

DC-3 DoverPlease join us at our dinner meeting on Wednesday, January 15 to learn about an amazing journey that began in May 2019. Follow the Flabob Express DC 3 - the dream, preparation, crossing the Atlantic and seven countries and back. This trip was a living history adventure to remember the June 6 anniversary of D-Day and honor its veterans, plus the 70th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. Every flight in a DC-3 is an adventure, but to fly from Riverside, California to Europe and back, and do it with 14 other 75-year-old DC-3s and C-47s for the re-creation of the 75th anniversary of D-Day was a remarkable accomplishment. You’ll gain insights into what it took to mitigate the risks and tackle the challenges, including: increasing aircraft reliability, insuring spare parts, support and avgas availability, flight crew training including formation, emergency equipment, and of course planning for a journey through an ever-changing and often daunting weather environment – the skies of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Our presenter, Bill Tymczyszyn, is a Retired Airline Captain (38 years at Continental and United), CFI A-I-R, 53 year GA pilot, FAA Designated Engineering Flight Test Pilot (DER). Please plan to attend this fascinating presentation to learn about the many adventures experienced by the crew of the Flabob Express!
